With the highest concentration of development happening in London, including the Olympic Park, how can the public realm reflect the nature, diversity and cultural identity of the different places in the Lower Lea Valley? Art in the Open has begun working on different scales to influence opportunities and measure the long term effects as development progresses and places evolve.

Our role is strategic, working with stakeholders to advocate good practice and develop a vision and connections between the longer term and current programmes. We have an advisory role with the Arts and Culture Team at the Olympic Delivery Authority, as a member of their selection panels, and the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation. We are also focusing on Stratford, given its key location in the Lower Lea Valley – scoping its art in the public realm commissioning and how this is being developed.
